Kok-kok mee!

Remember the chicken rice balls which I recommended last week? This noodles store has similar history and sits just opposite the chicken rice ball store. It was given the name “kok-kok mee” because in the past, the stall vendor would send one of his helper to go around the street hitting pieces of bamboo together that gave the sound “kok-kok”. Over time, people recognized the sound and thus named the noodles after the sound.

If you are looking for food which is value for money, then this bowl of noodles would certainly meet your expectations! Fishballs, fishcakes, char siew and minced meat. These are the ingredients used to prepare this delightful bowl of noodles and they come in generous servings too! What makes this dish so good is it's chilli. While some chilli are spicy till the extent that it turns you off, the chilli used in this dish is spicy and sweet. I don’t know about you, but I definitely could not get enough of it.

Be sure to get a can of soft drink if you were to try this dish out!!

  1. Are you sure it's called kok-kok mee cuz of the bamboo sound, and not because the guy just wants cock?

Why should I be sure that I get a can of soft drink if I were to try this dish out? Please do not tell me what to do. Thank you very much >:-(
