This week, I was thinking about what to recommend, because I had no idea where to go to eat. But because it has been rainy these days, I found myself wanting to have something warm to warm my tummy.
So one rainy afternoon, I had a sudden craving for Salted egg yolk custard buns. I have had my fair share of custard buns, ordering them whenever I come across them. And honestly, the ones that are found in KungFu paradise have got to be the best for me, so far!
The waiting time for these buns are not too long as well, so as soon as you order it, till the time it arrives, all you would want is to sink your teeth into those buns. Although it is a little small in size upon first look, after eating the third and last bun, it would be just nice to grant you that satisfaction and glow in your tummy.
The most important part when having these buns, and the first step before devouring them, is to hold it in your hand. Is it warm, close to hot? If it is, then you are on the right track! The last thing you would want is to sink your teeth into a bun that is cold and hard. The next step is to bite onto it slowly, seeing if it would burst into your mouth. Personally I love it when the filling overflows, because it really adds on to the excitement. (You might want to bite a small hole on the top and cool the filling before putting the whole thing in your mouth though.) The rest is to just enjoy yourself, and taste it very carefully.
The filling, or the custard, is of perfect consistency, and you can feel the particles of egg yolk in your mouth. The bun is soft and not stealing the limelight from the custard, and they only complement each other. It is amazing how salted egg yolk goes so well whit the bun and the best part is to be able to “drink” the filling from the bun, like from a cup.
Unlike other stalls where you might have to go during the evening, you can grab your salted egg yolk custard buns craving fixed as and when you want, from this restaurant as well.
I am a fan of these small amazing creations, so if you have any recommendations on where I can get cheaper and nicer ones, please let me know! ;)
This looks absolutely disgusting but delicious. Who says cheap, bad-looking food can't be a draw? I think if you had more tastefully distasteful pictures, this would be a rockin' site. Add the video is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThe photo of the custard oozing out of the bun reminds me of squeezing the black heads on my nose! Yummy!
